Lanzarote Hotel Occupancy recovers in January

Figures released by ASOLAN, Lanzarote’s Hoteliers Association show that January 2011 was the best start to a year since 2005. Occupancy levels were 72% in January, up 7% on the year before.

These figures are pleasing news and are a vast improvement on a couple of years earlier. In May 2009 occupancy levels across the island hit an all-time low of 49% during the depths of the world economic crisis.

The current figures have been boosted by more frequent flights by Ryanair, travellers switching from Egypt and Tunisia to the Canaries and a general improvement in the worldwide economic climate.
